xp 1996 gauge will not work

Hi i just bought a 1996 xp and a gsx On the xp the gauges will not work when the start and stop button is pressed with out the tether on all the lights come on and thats it. only the low fuel light stays on . this is the same when riding the machine. all 3 gauges will not work.

Does the vts work? If the vts module is not working which like 95% of 96 xp vts modules' go out really quick, the vts gauge will not work. Also can check the fuse for the vts.
Low fuel light is prolly because in the fuel pick up there is a float that has a magnet attached to it that runs up and down the circuit board to tell the gauge how much fuel is in it. ALot of times the magnet falls out and therefore it will show no fuel. Take the pick up tube out and pull apart and the magnet is prolly inside the tank. Jb weld it back to the float.
As for the mph gauge im not sure about this one bc my 96 xp is doing the same thing, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.
