I have the service manual. Everything there is stated. BUT, it does not say anything about if i should put antifreeze in the exhast? It mentions how to do this for a supercharged jet ski? All it says, is to flush out the system with a hose? The jet ski has only been in fresh water in lake erie.

Does it need to be poured into the exhaust?

Your feedback is very helpful.

Technically, according to the manual, the 155hp non supercharged engines are self draining which means the water in the exhaust manifold is supposed to gravity drain out when the boat is on the trailer. the S/C engines with inter-coolers are the only ones that need special attention and be flushed with antifreeze. But, to be on the safe side I always flush mine with RV antifreeze (155hp sportster).

What I do get an old bilge pump which is hooked up to a clear hose and a fitting on the end that screws into the flush port near the jet pump. I then pour 1-2 gallons of RV antifreeze (pink stuff since it is non-toxic) in a bucket, submerge the bilge pump. Next I start the engine, turn on the bilge pump and circulate the antifreeze until I see pink coming out the jet pump and exhaust port, takes less than a minute. Then shut the bilge pump off, a couple quick revs on the engine (too blow out the exhaust box as much as possible), then shut the engine off. I'll be winterizing our boats next weekend and maybe I'll try to post up a video of this procedure which is really pretty simple and can be home made with stuff you probably have in the garage.

In my opinion it is better to be safe than sorry next spring. Hope this helps!

video would be great.
I usually just blow out the water then add AF thru a hose.

How do you blow it out? Just turn on the jet ski? Or add air pressure to the water flushing unit? AND, wouldnt you also need pressure for the AF to go through the system?

I would also be very interested in knowing the best process to do this. I was going to try pumping it via a drill pump, but the instructions on a drill pump make it clear NOT to use it with any flammable liquids (and RV antifreeze is highly flammable.....)

No problem guys, I'll be winterizing in about a week and I'll try to get a video up or at the very least a detailed description with pictures. Stay tuned...

I did not realize that RV antifreeze was flammable. The reason I use it instead of regular anti-freeze is b/c it is non toxic and when the boat goes back in the water next spring I don't need to worry about polluting the lake if any is still left in the system.

Mine are so new that they are still covered, so I am paying the dealer again this year to winterize them..
Maybe next year I will be out of coverage. If so,, I will be doing it myself.

For those not familiar, a video would be a fantastic thing to see...
