I have to remove the top of the head on my 98 GTX limited. It looks like it has an aluminum or metal type of gasket. I'm not sure. I'm just curious if I have to replace it or is it reusable? I want to have everything ready for when I do, do this. Thanks.

I thought that model used an "O" ring...if it has a gasket replace it. Check out the "parts" diagram at the top to be sure.

WOW! $37.49. I wasn't planning on paying that much for it. Ok. Well it has to be done in order to get that darn tube from the Sea Doo lub can out of the cylinder. I don't know if it is in there or if it got by the piston or not. This is where I will start though. Wish me luck. Kinda scared about it.

wow - you are the 'you are not going to believe this' guy...from the other boards .
and you got your answer here - or did you - that plastic would have been burned up long ago if you fired up the engine.. my .02

I agree. If that tube fell into your piston, it's likely either been melted and burned up or it's fallen into the bottom of the crankshaft area.

The 951 uses the standard head gasket across the heads and is a solid cylinder assembly, as the other two strokes have seperate cylinders. It's easier to assemble than the individual cylinders in that you don't have to alignment the exaust system to the jugs before doing the final torque on them.......but for the ease of taking the cylinder head off and re-using the gasket, the 787 got them beat on that one.........

Yes I'm the guy. I never did fire it up. I had to manually turn it over to try and get that tube out. It has to be in there. Just can't get in there to locate it. I used tape and the claw thing and air. We tried so much. It has to be on top of the piston. If not then I have no clue where it went. May not be in there. May have fallen where I can't see it inside the hull. At least the top of the pistons that I can see look good

WOW! It has been a long time since I've been here. I haven't had time to mess with this yet. I will very soon. My wife has me trying to fix this. Plus the wear ring an impeller. So I'm gonna be busy for awhile.

I've got some luck. I took the top of the head off last night. The tube wasn't in the combustion chamber. So, I stuck my big paws into the exhaust port and guess what??? It was in there! I've got pictures of it. I also took pic's of the gasket and the head and the combustion chamber if yall are interested? Not a problem. I may just go ahead and post them here for Karl and Snipe to take a look at.
