So I've had my 01 Utopia for a couple months. Thing runs great, no complaints whatsoever, love the jet drive.... So here is my dilemma. Wife wants a larger boat than the Utopia with a cuddy. Obviously Seadoo does not make one of these so I'm kind of stuck with what to do. She wants something where she can camp out on the boat over night. Originally I wanted to maybe get into a 07 or 08 challenger, but I'm not so sure that is going to happen now. Can anyone recommend anything? Was hoping to stay under 20k.

Pretty sure you can get a cover for the bimini that allows you to camp on the Utopia. I looked at my Bimini top and it has zippers for an enclosure cover.

look for a mid 90's chaperral 20 footer or sea ray. A nice cuddy cabin though will probably cost more than 20k...

my wife is the reason i got the seadoo and boy i dont regret agreeing with her for the first time! sometimes i will have to agree with her from now on!

if she says buy bigger boat, then buy bigger boat.

i just wish she would agree with my other hobbies!

:reddevil:Be careful! You can't keep upgrading her to the next bigger thing...what else is next?!:reddevil:

First a cuddy, what's next? A carver yacht?

I'd say each of you state your case to each other and comprimise. You'll probably end up with what you have now.

But what do I no? I'm no therapist... Heck I can't even spell right.

However, I do no that if you do get a cuddy boat, you will never hear the end of it. From US! Well most of us. Just ask craigmiri, he was looking at a four winns a while back. Glad to say he has a c180 now. We can be very perswasive.

Maybe we should swap wives. I wanted to get something with a cuddy so we could take weekend trips somewhere else, but the wife doesn't like the idea. Then I found the boat I have now (and I'm glad I got this instead) but I still think a cuddy would be cool for weekend trips. Having to trailer it all the time gets aggrivating, but it's an awesome boat, so I can't complain much. I'm sure I could have been happy with a cuddy cabin boat, but I think I'm even happier with what I've got now. Growing up we had an old Baja cuddy cabin, which was cool, but we used it maybe twice in the few years we owned it. My dad had a few others too that were fun, but never really used. The Sea Doo is a hard thing to compete with. Completely different category than any other boat in my mind.

haha, that's funny. I'll be getting emails in my box that another person has posted in my thread 2 years from now haunting me.

Take the money you would have sent buying a bigger/newer boat and get her something nice maybe she will forget???

Boat Camping

Well, after the cuddy she will want a porti-potty, and then an enclosed head, etc. My sailboat had a cuddy and we primarily used it to get out of the sun/rain. You may want to take her up to 1000 islands. They have a few island camping areas on the US or Canadian side that are real nice. For much less than your boat upgrade you could get a decent tent, air mattress, stove, etc. Heck - I have all of that and could lend it to you since you are local.

My point is, I think she wishes to overnight with the boat, and not really on the boat. The two are pretty different, and some folks appreciate solid ground after a day of water sports. An island camping is kind of neat - less crowded, more pristine, etc. Canoe Point even has showers/flush toilets.

Test

Actually, now that I think of it, The 1000 Islands has several houseboat rental companies. You could test sleeping on the water in one of those. If she does not like that, she will not like cuddy camping.

I have been around a long time and all this talk about bigger boats equals money!!
I have said it for years and this is just one more thing that proves it.

"YOU JUST CAN'T HIDE MONEY"
You bunch of showoffs!!! :lols:
