if you hook water up to the flush spigot under the hatch, you'll see it come from the "hose adaptor" fitting at the back of hull, which is the same fiting the water would exit if dumped in the lake. So, hooking it up at top, would be "backflushing". You pinch #6, and that would be the same as hooking the flush hose at the back of the hull, so you'd have to "monitor" the water pressure, where as, you leave it open, half the water goes strate out, other half will get pulled the cooling system.
Look at the picture, if you pinch #4, THATS the hose, strate from the pump going to the head, so if ur towing, you'd want to pinch/ball valve that one...
As for 4-TEC motors....I have no idea.
