Why is there water splashed on my battery and engine after riding?

I have a 2000 Sea-Doo GTS 717 Rotax and after riding for a while I’ve noticed that when I open the seat, there’s water splashed on top of the battery and parts of the engine. There’s also a small amount of water in the hull—not a lot, but enough to notice.

The ski runs fine and I don’t see any obvious leaks when it’s on the trailer. I’m wondering if this is just from normal spray getting into the engine compartment during riding, or if it could be a sign of a hose leak, loose clamp, or something else I should check.

Tie up to a dock or on trailer in the water. Take off the seat and start up. Give a little throttle and look for leak. Check around carbon seal and accordion boot that holds it in place.

Thanks for the replies will test it more at the doc. Could the water droplets on the battery terminals and plugs cause a failure in the meantime?

Check for a leaking Welch plug as well. I found mine while running on the hose to back flush. Only run it for 45 seconds on the hose

No, these have water in them all the time. That is why all the electrical components are sealed. Water splashing ont he battery and plugs isn't going to do anything, it is normal for these.
