Once again, I have the 1999 sea Doo Speedster manual, but it is too vague.

Can someone please explain in a little bit more detail which hose/hoses I need
to clamp if I have to tow my TWIN engine speedster.

THANKS!

water shut off

Just an idea, on all my jet boats I put a lever operated ball valve inline on the water line coming in off of the jet pump on both motors so if you need to run on one motor just shut the valve off on the motor your not running or shut both if your getting towed. Just remember to open the valves after you get your problem fixed.

My thoughts exactly!

I have been thinking about doing exactly as you described slide!

I'll have to look at my owners manual while looking at the engine to identify which hoses we're talking about.

The problem with that is that over time the "valve" will corrode and cause more problems. It might even cause a restriction in the line at high speed. I just carry a flat nosed pair of vice grips for emergencies. If you tow any seadoo over 15 mph the boat isn't very stable in the water anyway, so why would you need to exceed that speed while towing and chance a flooded engine?

Karl,

Will a brass fitting corrode? I would think as long as it was not attached to another metal no electrolysis would occur. Will Salt attack the brass? Suppose we could use a PVC ball valve too?

I agree boeing....I'd like to do this but will Seadoo take issue with my warranty?? Thats the million dollar question.

where do I put the clamp in this diagram?

So using this diagram of one of the speedster's engines, at what number
should I place the clamp when towing?

Im not sure because if you put it on there and u damage the engine (from not reopening) then they'll say it was because of that but at the same token, if you don't have one and u back up water into the powerhead, then ull be screwed anyhow!

I see the Led's on the bottom of the boat, just curious how did you go about doing that and can you see them in the water at night ?
Does the boat have a glow ?

tres...take gander at diagram, and it shows the #6 being "outlet",..so clamp the #4 hose, before it "T'z" to the rave on waterbox...

I need to print this picure out and keep it on the boat in case of an emergency when my brain locks up.

Once you find it put some red electrical tape around the hose @ a easy place to get to & place your clamp where the tape is,saves your hose from a bit of wear & tear..

by no means, i'm I suggest'n it, but what about a pvc ball-valve? They have'm in the same i.d. as the line, so "restriction" wouldnt come into play.

Well like karl mention it "could" in time deteriorate & clog the system.I've seen pvc ball valves wear over a long period of time & even shatter inside..But these were pushin 10 years..I'd say go for it but make a note to inspect them every so often to be sure nuthins goin on inside them.. I wouldnt however do this on a boat thats still under warranty unless you get a certified shop to do it & make sure it wont be void..

I might even give this a whirl my son loves fishing & where we live the wind picks up wicked fast & too rough for the 12' aluminum so might try this & keep 1 engine running for (slower) trolling ...
Switch back & forth between engines unless someone thinks this is a bad idea..?? Too much wear on the one running engine..? I dont think it'll harm it @ all basicly almost just idleing just enough to go forward..lol
