I bought the 99 gtx limited this winter, snow on the ground. The guy said he didn't have a battery, my mistake I bought it anyway.
Now I have bought a new battery, put it in and all I got was a click.
I replaced the selinoid, and still got a click.
Crossed the selinoid, and still no starter.
I pulled the plugs in case there was fluid in the cylinder not allowing the motor to crank.
There was a drop of water where the spark occurs on the plug. Still no starter turning even with plugs removed
I removed the crank cover and was able to turn the shaft.

What's my next step? Im thinking to replace the starter and go from there but I don't want to replace it if the engine is taking water. COuld it just be condensation from winter.

Im thinking maybe the ski was taking on water and he ran the battery and starter out trying to get it to crank.

What would you do?

Next step.........

Lou. Im in Clarksville TN. Born and raised in Louisville, and yes I am a die hard Ky wildcat fan. Go coach Cal. !!
Not too far from you.

O.K. thats great, from two stand points, the reason I was asking, I was concerned that since the ski wasn't winterized, it could have cracked the block, but you might have dodged the bullet. I think your motor has siezed up, try this pour a little Marvel Mystery oil down each cylinder (about 1 oz.) let sit for a day, then see if you can turn the motor over by hand, remove the plastic cover and turn the flywheel. If it turns over, keep turning until it starts turning freely. Do this with no spark plugs and the plug wires grounded.

See if it frees up. If it does free up replace the spark plugs see if it will turn over with the plugs in, plug wires grounded. If you are successfull replace the plug wires see if she starts.

Go Cats!!!

Had same problem, my issue was resolved with new wires. Corrosion on the wires can and will cause such a condition.

Great. Man I hope you are right. I can turn the motor by hand but just about 1/2 turn. It starts getting slippery. I think I need to replace the starter first. I can't get it to turn over, am I thinking correctly. Please re-read my first post to this thread and tell me what you think.

Thanks.
What's the secret to the starter, I can't even see the thing.

I replaced my starter needlessly once, however, starters do go bad and I don't feel totally bad for getting a new one. My problem was that some guy put one of those quick-connects, which with time degraded somehow. I just wasn't getting enough current to the starter motor. Curiously though, even when I'd take jumper cables and try to hot-wire the starter, it still didn't work until I literally took another cable from another seadoo i had and bolted it up. Worked right away. You could have the problem of a stuck bendix. If the bendix is continually engaged to the ring-gear, you may not have enough juice to crank it. Perhaps try adding another car battery with jumper cables to your PWC battery. The extra juice can make it turn over sometimes. Be sure that you don't just jump it off a running car though as this can sometimes fry your MPEM.
