What's the difference? (Fuel selectors)

So I've got a '99 & '98 GTX 951. BOTH of these fuel selectors leak out of the RES (reserve). This leak occurs when I take the selector off, switch the fuel to ON, plug the OUT hole with my thumb, then blow into the inlet.

So both were doing the same thing, I thought maybe there was some leeway there, and it wouldn't matter much. So I put one of them back on with my new fuel lines. I pull the carb's return line from the MAG, blow into it to see if I can get things moving around. The tank and lines hold pressure, but once it gets to a certain level, I can hear the selector whistling (can't tell you at what PSI, does it even matter?). I can also hear bubbling in my fuel/water filter. I assume there's too much air getting in there?

Anyways, I figured I'd replace the darn thing for $20. May as well. Everywhere I'm looking is selling what-looks-to-be exactly like mine, but then it says in big bold letter, "EXCEPT 951 MODELS".

So.. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? Here's a pic, looking on SBT's site before I drive over there to get it:

951s use 5/8 hose yes 951 selector is more $ needs to be done carbs sucking air = lean = motor poof !

Ignition, yes. Fuel delivery systems are identical (Hoses, valves, filters, carbs, & baffles). I was able to swap parts between the two. Doesn't matter either way, both are aged too much.

The picture you posted is wrong and too small for the 951. 951 uses 5/16" fuel hoses not 1/4".
The stuff from SBT is crap and should be avoided.

Either get and OEM valve or I have had good luck with the WSM ones from PWC Muscle @hfgreg #006-604 .

Well I just drove over to SBT and picked one up before you wrote that.. Looks to be of decent quality, no plastics on it. Ought to be better than what I got for now, and for a cheap price.

Ok, good luck and you have been warned. I would make darn sure it isn't sucking air and leaking as the SBT ones have been known to be bad out of the box.

No leaks out of the box, but will take into consideration the need to look for a better brand soon.
