As of what year did Seadoo stop using ROTAX 2 stroke engines in boats? Not counting the Mercs. In other words what is the latest model year boat you could buy with a ROTAX 2 stroke engine? I think around 2005 or so but not sure??

That's an "Open" question.

In most of the boats... '99 was the last year of the ROTAX 2-stroke. The exception was the Sportster LE. I think that one got into 2004. In 2000... they switched over to the Merc 2-stroke engine. In 2005, most of the boats finally got the Rotax 4-stroke engines, with the exception of the Islandia. That one switched over to Rotax 4-strokes in 2006.

That's in the USA. I'm not sure if they sold them in other countries longer or not.

The sportster was the only non merc boat to get the 2 stroke from 99 to 05. The sportser le had the 951 again in 2006. Then it was all 4 strokes.

Thanks,

I just picked up a 99' Challenger with twin 787's and was thinking that was the last year for an 18' boat. Engines are being re-built. PO ran out of oil and seized the engines.... Got it for $1800 so worth the expense of repairing.

Was it the burgundy one from Oka? :)
Congrats on the new boat! who is rebuilding your engines?
