What year did SeaDoo switch to the V6 engine?

what year did SeaDoo switch to the V6 engine?
Did affect the Sportster, Speedster, and Challenger the same years?
Was there any improvements to that V6 engine that i should consider?
I am looking to buy a SeaDoo boat, and I believe I would like to get one with the V6 engine.

i have a 2000 challenger 14' boat. it came with 2 rotax engines. as far as i know all the other boats that year used the mercury v6 up until about 2003 when it was replaced with the 4 stroke engines.

as long as the engine is in good condition and you take good care of it, you should be fine. god help you if you need to replace it though. they are pretty tough to find now days. some dingleberry is trying to sell a used one on ebay for about 4 grand though. lol
