I know ... We've been through this a bazillion times ... Here's my skituation ..

I have two BRP Rebuilt engines in my rig (last year). I've been using the mineral XPS (white) for the last 100 or so hours. Few weeks ago I took doc's advice and switched to the synthetic. I sent the wifey to the marina to buy a case of XPS sythetic, she came home with a case of the yellow XPS because they didn't have the black and I've been through 2 jugs. I had roasted out a starter this past weekend so went to the marina to pick it a new one today (starter wasn't rebuildable). I was talking with a service manager who says I shouldn't have mixed the white XPS with the Yellow XPS. Well I have ... am I okay? These engines aren't cheap to replace so couple questions?

Should I be okay to mix white with yellow? Am I okay to continue to run the yellow or switch to black.

Thanks for any clarification!!

Your right.....as long as you've been here, you should know all there is to know about our oil.

The only requirement in our oils is that is be a non NMMA, non TCW-3, low ash oil. That's it. I have been using the Quicksilver blend in my boat and ski for 5 years now, and the last motor breakdown I did, had no, to a very light carbon buildup.

I'm not sure about the bottle color on the XPS, so not to sure about his issue. XPS is way over priced. The only concerns you should have when mixing oil is only one. DO NOT mix mineral oil into a system using synthetic. But, you can mix synthetic into a system using mineral. In other words, going from a lower quality to a higher quality.

Then, you got the guy that gave you the info. The way I see it, it was just his opinion... thats it. I see your in Canada, so may not have the availability of the Quicksilver oils. But, if you have a large marina market, look for it. I buy it in the gallon jug and run it in all 3 of my 787cc's... The key is, I have never run anything else but.

I see Dr. Honda answered as I was writing this post. In a way,.... he's right too. If you go to full synthetic, stay with it. I did for a short time, but the expense was too high for me to justify. I run the blend now. And have seen very little difference in my results.

Thanks guys ... Sorry for the irritation. You know what would be cool ...

If BRP put on the bottle: For use in 787/951 etc.... All these abbreviations with regards to oils is just right confusing. I mean all three of the XPS 2stroke oils say for use in carb engines... If they just put some clarity it would save some of us numpties who don't quite understand alot of headaches and multiple posts.

Re: Full synthetic I'm paying about $52 for the yellow jug. It's 10 bucks more for the yellow than white, so that's not a big premium to me. I'll just roll with it moving forward, I was just concerned that I may still have some Mineral (white jug) oil still sitting in crankcase, and mixing yellow with it. I trust you guys over the service manager so thanks for posting!
