Can someone tell me what the "Shoe Ride Cap" is?

It is part number 49 on the 1996 SPX external propulsion parts diagram. It is a rectangular piece that is part of the ride plate. Is it a placeholder for something my ski doesn't need or is it something I adjust for some reason?

No clue myself.

it sits above the ride plate, part of the 'tunnel' the water goes through... why are you asking? You do not adjust it.

Sabr...I was asking simply because I had no idea WTH it was or whether or not it needed attention of some kind. Thanks for reply.

Lou... Thanks. That's what I suspected, but as this is my first ski I wanted to be sure there was not something critical there like the
"anti-exploding-engine-and-ejector-seat-retaining-device" or something.

no worries, just no one has ever asked that before unless they sucked up a huge log or rock and managed to damage it to the point of replacement...
