What is the broken hose for?? 97 SPi

Got a 94 SPi that has been sitting for a couple years, I pull it out to finally use it again and I'm going through all the steps before even attempting to fire it. I think I'm close, I'm just looking around inside and see this near the bottom!!



It's a little hose and somehow it got cut, the hose doesn't feel brittle or weak, the rest of it still feels strong so I am baffled.
My second thought is, I know it's been sitting for a while, but I don't see how that would just one day cut in half by itself so I'm wondering if it was cut even before when I was still using it. Is it completely critical to functioning? Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, it's a good thing you discovered that, it's an oil injection hose, DO NOT RUN YOUR SKI, until you replace that hose. In fact replace both of the oil injection hoses, use 3/32" tygon fuel line, also while your at it replace the oil injection filter, and bleed the line. It's also worth removing the carbs. to replace the oil injection hoses.

Also I think I see grey tempo fuel lines, those need to be replaced with black automotive hose and the fuel delivery system cleaned.

The fact that Liu out it in bold tells you how important it is.

I can't second the grey tempo lines enough. Bottom line is, replace them or the broken oil line won't matter.

They force the engine to run lean which destroys the engine.

Thank you for your input, I got the year wrong though. I have a 94 spi and a 94 XP. I gave up on the SPi for the moment after finding that out and reading your response. So I go to the XP and though the configuration is a little different a hose in the same basic area is also cut!!

I feel like there is no way they both went out after being in storage and feel like they had to have been ran like that at some point!
I am baffled, but now trying to figure out how to get to them to replace them.
