What brand of crank would you put in a 951 rebuild

If you want the thing to last go as close to oem as you can. Wsm is alright but it's really the luck of the draw with their stuff.

RXX's do not last. The one I did had 57 hours and was super mint but on it's third engine. That's just the way it goes with a 951 that BRP asked 30 more hp out of. It's the same story with all of them I've seen or read about accept for one where a guy said he got 100 hrs out of his rebuild but who knows if that's true.

I don't recommend WSM but I've never had a problem with any brand set up correctly when I think about it. In that instance I had chose to "plug in play" my chunked engine issue with "a 40 hr 951 with a brand new top end". Well it showed up and those washers were eaten into on either side of the rods where they attached to the crank. I got a OEM crank for it from the SHS Powersports deal (saw their first free shipping coupon today) and the ski is still running strong the last I heard.

Actually if you look at the holes where the case cooler goes...if they are not threaded, along with the 98 casting mark tells you someone had a disaster with the original cases. All 3 of the RXXs I parted had chunks of case in the bottom of the hull.

I 2nd the rebuild with all OEM parts.

It is in fact threaded.

I also have done a ton of research the case cooler on the bottom of the engine is to prevent detonation. I have a link to the article on my pc. Looks like I need a new oem crank, counterbalance, pistons, and a mint set of jugs.

Alright great score. I just paid the same guy tonight for both his UMI's. I wish I had more extra 951 parts but JSG got the last ones.

I didn't actually take those pipes off. The RXX they came with had a regular black pipe in there place and OCOD negotiated those pipes into the deal for me for a reasonable price increase.
