What brand battery for a gsx?

You can't beat a lead acid for longevity, that being said I wouldn't recommend a lead acid, too many problems, it needs to be vented or fumes can build up in the engine compartment and can explode, when the battery is vented the fumes from the vent will ruin the ski's finish and decals.

I would also recommend an AGM battery, but not a MagnaPower, I only got two seasons, I'm going to try one from Advance or Batteries +.

Thanks guys, no advance auto around here.
I will hit oreilly

Esecially for things like batteries, it always pays to check for coupons online, before you go to the store. I bought my AGM from Advance Auto and the normal price was right around $80, but with the coupon and online pricing, I picked it up for right around $50-55, and it's been awesome so far. Next fall, you will want to pull the battery and pickup a battery tender/maintainer, to keep the battery in good condition. it charges the battery and then when it's charged, the tender will drop to a trickle charge and keep the battery at the optimum voltage. It's well worth the cost. Oh, and don;t charge the battery directly on a concrete floor, that will kill the battery. lol

If you look out on the main page with the threads, there is a discussion going on about batteries and chargers.

It's funny the whole sealed/non sealed debate. On my atv, it had an old lead acid never start, worked perfect on a not much used quad that sat in a cold shed all winter. I replaced it, decided to go big bucks on a new sealed glass mat battery. Went out to start it and it was super dead after sitting 2 weeks in the cold shed. I will only use the vented ones in the atvs from now on, but the sealed agm in the seadoos. Not sure why they acted different, but the agms don't like the cold for sure

CR the advantage to AGM is they "bounce back" much better after being killed. Sounds like you have a parasitic drain some where. Killing a battery over night has minimum harm. Death blow to any battery is sitting dead for long periods. Lead acid battery can some times be revived by cooking at 15v to 16v charge for hr at time. This burns off sulfates thus allows plates to then absorb charge. Works 25% of time. The holy grail of new battery tech is use cell phone type Lithium Ion Polymer. Weighs 1.5 lbs. Charges in 15 mins. Cant ever harm it.

The trick to older Seadoos is never leave lanyard on while in storage. Next is reach back at black electrical box near bsttery and unplug rop gray connector. This leaves machine sit for months with zero draw on battery thus encoraging fresh battery conditions.
