I've been curious about this. Do you put rocks in it, or just fill it with sand? I will be mostly only be using one in shallow water (sandbars) and was trying to decide between these and those sand spikes that you drive into the ground and tie up to.

I have a rock bag like that but have not used it yet. I have dog tie out screws in each ski that I use all the time when we are sitting in shallow water. Get them cheap from Home Depot. I think Harbor Freight has them even cheaper. Works great! http://www.chewy.com/dog/aspen-pet-...at. I think I'm gonna order a couple as well.

i've used all 4(?) kinds and the bag anchor was definitely the easiest to use. we went up to lake ouachita for a camping weekend and if anyone has ever been to the lakes in the ozarks/ouachita region, you know the shoreline is rocky as all get out. the bottom is too hard for a grappling or danforth style anchor, and you have to just about do a handstand in the water to screw in one of those screw in ones.

the bag anchor was as easy as picking a few good size rocks and then tossing it out into deep enough water.

+1 anchor bag, easy to store and clean. Only time they are an issue is if the chop or waves are big the ski will pull them up and down as it bounces and work it into deeper water until it is no longer touching the bottom.

I posted a pretty good post about anchors a ways back, I'll find the link and post it.

That said, I use and LOVE the anchor bag as well. The cheap silk bags don't hold up well. I took my torn one to a canvas shop and they built one from canvas using the line and float from the original bag.

I just put sand from the beach in mine. There is a drawstring that pretty much closes it. Never havd had an issue with it but I only have been on lakes with it so no change in tide or too much chop.

I've never tried the bag, although I like the concept, but we generally just beach around here so it doesn't come up that often, but a couple of the beach bars we like to visit force you to anchor offshore and then I just bring the mushroom anchor. For sandy, non rocky shore it seems to work just fine, although I have learned that it won't work worth a dam if there is more than minimal wave action, or if you try and tie two ski's together because your buddy forgot his. (I learned this the hard way, had to chug my beer and run out into the water to keep the ski's from drifting into the side of a boat anchored nearby)

What I liked most about the mushroom is that I could kind of put it down on the bottom of the storage bin and shove some crap on top like a cooler or some towels to keep it from bouncing around, I learned that lesson the hard way as well, cracked my storage bin because I had the anchor in there with just a couple of other things and when we hit the 3' rollers it was bouncing around pretty bad.

It really depends on what kind of bottom you're dealing with. Personally I don't carry an anchor because rarely do we go out without taking the boat, so I just anchor the boat and tie the Seadoo's to the boat. On our local lake we have a soft bottom and I use a river anchor, it's similar to the mushroom anchor that Tim has but it has wedges cut out to grip the soft bottom better.

The bag anchor with the draw string is just the easiest for me. I can store it in the front and still jump waves and what not without a heavy anchor banging around in the bin. Then just fill it with sand or rocks and drop it in the water

We do mostly Lake Erie and West Branch ( A big Inland Lake ) . We tried the sand bag anchors. Way too much wave action for them to stay put. They just walk toward shore after 30 minutes. But with my kids and I they really never sit that long.
