Hey i have 1999 seadoo gtx 787 rfi

Ive been gaving hard time startimg it in water..starts perfect out of water. I got it going wot and went for a rip.. ran perfect for about 10 15min then it just lost power and flashed hi temp... wouldn't start again even after floating for 20 min to cool.. now i noticed my battery cable loose so assume the water pump wasn't working and it overheated??. Now i get a flashing maint display and just a thunk from the black box... ?????

Well, the "waterpump" is your jet pump and has nothing to do with the battery. It sounds like you could have seized the engine.

Pull the spark plugs and the rear PTo cover and try turning the engine over by hand. Report back with the results, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

You don't take the PTO off, you take the cover off. It's the gray plastic cover on the back of the engine, typically held on with two plastic wing nuts. This way you can turn the rear PTO (flywheel).

There is no water pump on these. The jet pump forces lake water into the cooling hoses. How do you know it wasn't getting water?

Then you have a blockage in your cooling system somewhere or you ran lean and seized the engine.

Before getting into the whole overheating thing make sure you can turn your engine over by hand and we will go from there......

With the spark plugs out it should spin freely. If it won't spin over, pull the jet pump and try again
