i am putting a set of tower speakers on the stock oe tower on my challenger and i was curious what to do with the speaker wire? what would you guys do?, run it thru the tower??? if i do that im going to have to drill two small holes in it and one at the bottom and fish it thru.... i really dont want to wrap it in wire loom and zip tie it there either? that would look horrible! does any one think it would be a bad idea to drill the wholes??? aslo when i get it to the bottom of the tower i think im going to have to drill a whole in the side of the boat and tuck the wires into the hull. well after i do that how do i get them up thru to the back of the radio??? thats going to suck! lol... i am going to run a amp so i figure if i do i will have to at least get the RCA's up to the radio.... so one way or another im going to have to figure this out!

thanx for anyones imput!

yup, gotta run them through the tower. dont make the holes any biger than you nee though. and yes it does suck running wires from the head unit to the tower. i use a fish tape when i did mine. if you can have somebody help you it would be a plus. heres a picture of where mine run through the tower. i used speakon connectors.

That is a very good question. I am about to add the tower speakers to my boat and plan on drilling the tower. I hope that's the right thing to do? I am going to put a plug at the bottom of the tower so when I need too take the tower off I can just disconnect the wires.

If you have a hole for the speakers, take them out and that gives you room to work. Use a fish tape to get them from the front to the speaker hole. Then put that hole up top. Use another wire dropped down that hole. Tape that end to the end you are working with at the speaker hole and pull it up and through. Voila!!!

I dont have a tower and havent wired one, but lookin at Rex's pic. I would make the hole on the tower lower and make a hole straight across from it on the side of the boat. Either line it with a push in rubber grommet or put the wire through and clear silicone that crap out of it.

Just gotta say...

We really hate it when our choice of music is made by someone far away in a different boat. Sound travels really well over water, and speakers down low in the passenger compartment are bad enough. With those speakers mounted up high on a tower, you're choosing music for everyone around you.

I love music, but please let others make their own choices and keep yours low enough that the lake doesn't turn into an amplifier contest. Otherwise we might have to break out the Barney Theme Song - universally acknowledged as The Ultimate Acoustic Weapon and banned by the Geneva Convention as torture.

Just sayin'...

One common misconception about putting in a big system is that it is going to be loud. Yes mine will be loud, very loud, BUT, the idea is sound quality more than volume. It takes power to have proper speaker control. Speaker control is what gives you quality sound.

If I want to turn it up, I certainly can serenade the majority of the lake. I will however try to keep in mind that fish dont like noises like that and will try not to interrupt the fisherman. On the other hand, I am out in a public area to enjoy it with friends and foremost my family. If we want tunes on while wake boarding, tubing, ect. We will have them. Thats just the way it is. We also live in a rather rural area and the lakes are huge, If we are there first, they can go somewhere else. If they beat us to the spot, then we will go somewhere else.

that was the lowest i could go on my tower. the bottom of the tubing is lie a solide 3" of aluminum.

sounds like somebody needs a bigger system! ever seen the guy with loud music, not having fun? no, its only the people that complain all the time that arent having fun and want to infict there sickness on everyone else.

I think my tower is the same way, bottom few inches are solid. I looked all over town for connectors like rex's and couldn't find any. So I am just going to use bullet type connectors that are 2 different colors so I don't mix up which wire goes to which speaker.

Rex, do you have problems with water ever getting into the receptacle?

not at all. they are connectors for doing things like PA announcements and concerts and stuff. i seen somewhere you can buy an actual tower wiring kit that comes with the connectors and all. heres a link to where i got my connectors.

heres a link to a wiring kit.

Rex, I noticed the hydro tuff stuff on ur boat. I know on mine, without anything on the back ski deck, its slippery as all get out. Did thay hydro tuff stuff help with the slipperiness.
