My VTS seems to work when it wants to. I took the out the motor and connect it to a battery and it works, when I put it back in nothing works, but I hear a clicking noise. Any Ideas?

Thanks

I haven't had one in my hands but I would check the clicking noise for the source. It might be a bad switch that stops it from traveling to it's extremes, or a bad wire connection.

solenoid/relay.....

If the motor works with a direct link to a 12 vdc battery but you hear clicking when you hook it up, the relay/solenoid switches may be bad. I tried to get into the wiring diagraphm here at work and was unable to. But it sounds like a operation solenoid/switch.

i just fixed that same problem on my 94 xp.
the clicking is the motor trying to turn, it usually happens when you trim all the way up, or down.

I took mine apart and put some grease on the plastic threads that turn.

Once you get it apart you will see what i mean, the motor turns a plastic screw in a plastic housing, and there is alot of resistance, so putting some grease on it will help.
