Hi everyone. My VTS has stopped working on my 96 XP. I opened the cover and put battery directly to the motor wires and...nothing.

So I figure it is dead but probably not worth the money to repair/replace to me. Assuming this is so (and you are welcome to tell me otherwise), what would be the best position to make it now permananent? Up? Middle? somewhere between the two?

Thanks

Mark

trim

i LOVE the trim on my '02 XP

but if i had to leave it somewhere all the time i'd put mine just a hair under (down) from center... it seems to work well there for all around riding...

Thanks for the input.

Just curious...why would anybody want to point the jet all the way up?

You could do that, but they get really bouncy and dont hit top speed very well that way. Pointing upward is fun for a few minutes though for helping jump waves and whirl around. Middle or slightly lower than middle is best overall in my opinion.

up

on my '02 w/a 951 and the VTS up i can spin it on a dime vertically, jump it OUT of the water from idle, and in general have SO much fun with it it should be illegal... i've almost crashed it on top of me now 100s of times... it's brutal fun... my arms are so sore after riding like that...

it's just... FUNNER.

Yeah, if it is rough out, I trim mine almost all the way up and just ride the waves out! I can get some serious air with my 3d. If it is a calm day, I'll trim it all the way down and put the nose in the water for some serious turns @ WOT!

yea

i love my power trim, i just replaced the buttons on the steering grip for them, should be even easier now... i had to KILL the buttons to get it to work... new buttons on ebay, yay!

I've only had my jet a short time and really did little with the vts, yes it used to work sometimes. Now that it isn't you are making me wish it did. :willy_nilly:

If your VTS is bad, can you just leave it plugged in with no harm such as possible battery drain or should you disconnect it?

A bad VTS module can also blow the 5amp fuse as well as the VTS 7.5 system fuse.
Just unplug, or fix it. The 5amp would shut the ski electrical MPEM down. Bills86e

Fuse is still good, unit is now unplugged. The whole jet is in storage for winter now. Tpping on the motor may be a good idea for spring.
