I noticed when I started this up in the driveway today that there is a metallic clanging/bearing type of noise around the impeller area. Is this just what happens when they are out of water? Also, I think the engine is a bit loud; perhaps some piston slap?

It is a 951cc, 1999 GTX limited with 160 hours, one previous owner.

hard to tell from the video, sounds a lil different than mine, but mine has the standard "seadoo rattle" never listened to it from underneath myself, only from standing next to the ski. but sounds like the standard rattle at the end of the tape, but weird (to me) in the beginning of the tape.

Drive/pump rattle

ALL SEADOO'S RATTLE SOMEWHAT, BUT QUITE WHEN YOU PUT GREASE IN THE PTO ZERK FITTING, THIS PUT PRESSURE TOWARD THE PUMP AND ITS #9 RUBBER PLUG:

You may have destroyed the rubber plug bumpers, adding to the noise.
remember to sqirt some water on your carbone ring when running on the hose, or it will get hot and warp, then water leaks into the ski.

So are you saying I maybe over-greased the PTO grease fitting? I did add some today, just enough to make the little rubber boot bulge some.

Do you get this noise with the pump under load? I think you need to take it to the lake and see if you have the noise with the pump under a load, 2000-3000rpm.

On the water I don't notice it. I'm guessing it just moves around quite a bit more with no load on it. Just new to these machines and trying to get a feel for what is normal.
