the last few times i've run my 97 xp, there has hardly been any smoke out of the exhaust. like maybe a whiff here or there at idle while running on the trailer. it used to make a lot of smoke, especially if it has sat for a bit as i think the RV seal leaks a bit. when i pulled it out to run it the first time after the winter, it smoked a bit from the fogging oil but then hardly anything again. the oil injection lines are full, i'm planning on replacing them tomorrow before this weekend along with the filter. I "think" that it used to smoke more "before" but i can't really remember for sure. what says the experts?

i guess i'll know for sure when i replace the injection lines and see if the check valves are working.

Well.........

My XP will only show a little smoke when cold. Once warm... it's clear. My polaris (same mikuni pump) has ZERO smoke.

SO... I don't think I would be worried, as long as you know that your oil system is OK. If it's in question... then service it, (replace the small hoses, and filter) then when you bleed it... you will know if it's pumping.

yeah, i will certainly know when i replace the oil lines and filter tomorrow, i was just concerned a bit that there was hardly anything compared to the mosquito fogging from the gtx. i've gone back now and looked at my video from the first ride of the gtx and noticed that it cleared up to almost nothing again after a short ride as well. i guess i just didn't get as much fogging oil into the xp as i did the gtx.

I had the same fear on my Gtx. It barely smokes. I changed filter and lines before summer. I put a mark on the oil tank before I took it out last time so I could tell how much oil if any was being used. All checked out, but the no smoke had me paranoid.

Run it at idle and manually open up the oil pump. You should see more smoke. When you change you lines yoh can see it pumping as well.

running XPS-II produces less smoke than the non-synthetic oils.

sea-doos have always smoked less than your average 2 stroke (that I've seen).

hmm, maybe the PO wasn't running synthetic like they should have. the RAVEs were a little coked up but not that bad when i bought it, but now that i think of it, the reduced smoke from before started around when i topped off the oil tank, i've only had a couple of hours of running since i bought it last year.

SabrToothSqrl is all you do to clean the raves, take off those two allen bolts then pull it out and clean with a wire brush?? And Strizzo just pull your plugs and make sure they are a nice chocolate brown and not white.
