Thanks so far for the help and replies,

Well the new engine is run in and last sunday tried a little more throttle but would not rev more than 5200rpm top speed around 35mph,

out of the water found that full throttle only opened the butterfly in the throttle body by a 1/4 so adjusted the full throttle stop but the throttle control lever travels way down to open full and there was a lot of travel before the butterfly started opening, so tried to adjust cable but unsuccessful.

Any idea's ??

Either your cable is not set up right, or one of the pivots on the engine is installed wrong. Where did you adjust the cable? The base adjustment is under the vapor separator.

You should definitely get more than 1/4 throttle. Mine opens almost completely vertical. To set your cable, put the shifter in neutral. Undo the throttle cable barrel holder under the vapor separator. Now adjust the cable barrel so that the cable will just hold the throttle stop screw against the stop. Attach the barrel holder, and work the throttle from neutral to wide open a couple of times. Now with the shifter back in neutral you should have slight drag between a piece of paper and the idle stop screw (this assume the idle is set correctly). Now put the shifter in wide open, and the butterfly in the throttle body should be vertical. If not you have either a shifter problem, or one of the pivots on the engine. Let me know what you find.
