Upturned Seadoo GTX 2000 not starting, HELP!!!

Hi everyone

I have a seadoo 2000 gtx model. Today my friend and I were out and he upturned it. not knowing what to do he just pushed it back to shore and when i got to it, it was full of water, not enough to sink the titanic mind you! My main worry was the salt water getting into it but i have flushed it out and all the main parts look dry.

We have taken the spark plugs out and they are dry and i didnt try and start the engine. now when i try and start it the box and the back where the live feed from the battery goes makes a terrible clicking noise and doesnt fire up

Please can someone help me!!!

You need to get it fired up A.S.A.P. The longer it sits with salt water in it the worse the corrosion will be. It sounds like the battery wires are not getting a good connection or the battery is dead. Get the battery charged unattached to the seadoo so it won't surge the electrical and cause more problems. Remove the spark plugs and put the spark plug caps on the grounding studs. Hit the start button and get the water out of the cylinders. Don't hold the starter for more than a few seconds so it won't over heat the starter. After a few time of this add some wd-40 in the cylinders to help displace the water and lubriciate the cylinder. When it seems all the water is out of the engine, add a mixture of the oil you use in the seadoo and gas. Add a few oz to the spark plugs holes. Install fresh spark plugs and see if it fires up. You might need to repeat the process cleaning the spark plugs and drying them off. Don't give up. After it fires up just run it for a few seconds. Shut it down. Hook up the water hose and start it up. When its running turn the water on. Let it run for no more than 5 minutes on the hose, so it won't over heat the impeller bearings and seals. If you can, get it to the water and run it good to get any extra water out of the engine.

superb karl, thank you!! this happened a few hours ago and i have the battery on charge as i type. do you think if i left it till the morning it would be ok??

NO you need to get it started A.S.A.P.! If it sets over night the engine more than likely will be junk. Salt water is the worse enemy of the steel bearings internally in the engine. Time is of the essence.

karl, thank your for your assistance! i am having one difficulty, the wire that goes from the battery, should that be on the top connector or the bottom?? also, there are 3 little wires that have round connectors and they go to fuses. where should they be located??
