Have to pump throttle to get it to fire over. Once it starts it idles perfect with no throttle. Any suggestions?
Sorry for so many threads. People usually respond just once to my old threads.

What kind of ski do you have, model, year? You really need to add this information to your profile. Do you use the choke?

I am assuming your ski has carburetor(s). When I first start my 96GTI, I use the choke and crack the throttle, I've never considered it to be a problem, I even crack the throttle when I restart the ski, these are carbureted engines. Back before fuel injection in cars you had to crack the throttle on a cold start.

For some reason the XP is a little easier to start, but as long as it starts easily I have never really worried about either one.

Most carb'ed skis I've owned... they like to have the throttle just slightly cracked to restart in the water. (but it starts quick) If you are doing that... it's normal, but if you have to crank the engine for 5 to 10 seconds... then you have carb issues.
