Trouble shooting for blown 5 Amp fuse.

What is the process for determining/iliminating a faulty
A. Regulator
B. MPEM
C. Charging coil

With out removing and replacing every item.

What shop manual are you talking about.
The ones " Bombardier" I have only talk to checking the items but donot have a sequence/logic for checking out each item.
If there is one that speaks to "Checking out the regulator, step one, using a VOM, put the positive(red) prob on the redwire at reg. put the step two, black wire on ------ you should read------ohms" This is what I am looking for.
If the thing isn't running you can not check if it is charging or not.

What are you talking about? It sounds like you have the manual, and the test in your second post is how to check the coil. You don't check the coil while it's running. If the coil isn't shorted or open... you can check the output while it's running, and the manual explains how. Put your meter on the battery. You should have 13.5 to 14.5v at 5000 rpm's.

There is no good way to check an MPEM without the dealers equipment.

blown 5 amp fuse

What I am looking for is a step by step procedure to determine what is blowing my 5 amp fuse. I think that the charging coil as well as the regulater and mag coil can all cause this as well as the VTS. or even a blown diod in the mpem.

What i was wondering is , is there some static test "VOM" that will eliminate each of these items from the equation.
