Ive been having some trouble with gettin my ski to idle while in the water..if the vts is adjusted all the way up it seems to be ok but whenever I have it down it wants to stall. Anybody have this trouble? I'd really hate to try and mess with the idle screw while in the water

Why would you "Hate to mess with the idle screw in the water"?? That's the only way to adjust it properly. Do it while it's still on the trailer... but sitting in the water.

To me... it sounds like you just need a few more RPM to make the engine happy.

agreed. warm up the engine, then adjust while on trailer. not that hard. the 951 can be adjusted to 3k out of water, which is about 1400 in water. However you have a 787, so I'm not sure the in/out specs.

But obviously, in the water adjustment gets you the best results.

It's about the same. 3000 out... 1500 in.

Have you checked the condition of your spark plugs and wires? How old and clean are they and check the gap.
