Well thanks to many of the members here had my first trouble free day on the water of the summer. After spending multiple hours working everything from carbs to the jet pump my son and I went out and thrashed the XP for a couple hours and everything ran great. And for the first time this summer when I got home there was nothing to have to fix so I washed it and put it away until next week. Thanks again to all who helped with the many problems I posted about.

Congrats, that's great. These machines once running right require very little maintenance. I've also got a 96XP, I just got it this year, it's really a blast to ride. I got it in the spring and did just enough to get it running well, still needs some stuff, mostly cosmetic. I'm planning on working on it over the winter. I might call on you for some help.

Happy riding,

Lou

If I can be of help feel free to ask. It was nice being out and throwing it around and not having anything go wrong, we have had this since it was new and my wife and I were just married, used the heck out of it before kids came along and well you know what comes next, my youngest is three and it has sat for the past three years. At the beginning of the summer older kids wanted me to get it running again so they can knee board well three months later and just in time to store it for the winter it is all back to normal go figure.

It does amaze me these things are so durable yet so delicate, get it right and they will run forever but get it wrong and you are in a world of pain, sounds kind of like the human body.

I know exactly what you're saying, I often compare them to a woman, treat them right and they'll love you forever.

Congrats.

I've had 3 seasons of trouble free running. (with the exceptions of when I was rebuilding skis) Basically... you are right... if you get the bugs worked out, and things set properly... then they will just run, and not give you any surprises.

My only problems is that the weather changed last week... and the forecast isn't looking good. If I don't see a +78 degree day in the next couple weeks... it's going to be too cold to ride. :( In Pittsburgh... we normally see some snow flurries in October.

doc do you not own a good wetsuit? got mine this week. it turned cold this week for me too, its been 42 at night so water temp is about 54-56 degrees. i got in the water to day with my suit and boots, never felt the cold water all day.

Nope. I haven't had a wetsuit since I left SoCal. Out there... you would have 75 degree days in Feb... but the water would be cold. In PA... the weather shifts quick... and normally it will get cold, and stay cold until spring time.

For example: Last Saturday was 92 degrees. I was out on the water all day, and it was great. Monday. (labor day) was rainy and 65.

The big thing is... I don't have anyone else who will go out when the weather starts to turn cold... and it's no fun by yourself. So... I haven't bothered getting a wetsuit.

The weather changes fast here in wisconsin also. I know exactly what you mean about getting others to ride with you when it get cooler out (the kids won't even go). Thats the time I throw the wet suit on and go touring on Lake Michigan. I went up the coast line 22 miles yesterday which was nice. I didn't need the wet suit as the water and air temp were in the mid 60's. I'm heading out again this morning though I'm bringing the camera with this time.

We had epic 80 degree weather and sun...no wind at all either. Made for an epic day on Tonka yesterday. Had one boat plow wake for us for 45mins. Stopped to take a break and wouldnt you know it....burned the brush up in the starter.

My buddy Trev who owns a Trinity hulled SXR pulled his first ever back flip and after subbing, pulled out of the water with his feet still in the tray. It was crazy sick!!!

I expect it though...I beat the living piss out of my XP.
