This question is for all the gelcoat gurus. I am in the process of installing new traction mats on my Wake 215 and had a quick question. I used a multi-tool to get under the old mats and pulled them up. I used Goop spray, a putty knife and two afternoons to get all the adhesive off. Now that I have done all that, should I wax the bare fiberglass before I put down the new traction mats? I would still use acetone or rubbing alcohol where the mats will be to clean that area, but all the other areas were hit with cleaner and scrapers would need to a layer of protection, right?

I would just use a quick wipe of acetone before installing them. Any wax you put down will likely get removed by the acetone anyway, and leftover residue could create adhesion issues when you install the mats.
