zlat46 - Congrats on your marriage and the ski (most important). Now put it in your avatar.
Did ya lose your a$$ in Vegas???

Hahaha yesss that's right

Actually left vagas a happy man (up) for a change happy with that
Thinking of upgrading to a rxp with the winnings but I still have a soft spot for the xps

Took her out today again, my starter motor red cable come off the starter

I reconnected it, and now everytime u try start it, it
Doesnet and it just makes a live spark on thr starter motor positive

Is the starter motor gone? Or maybe something to do with the coil pack or starter relay?

hlp woul be appreciated, or is there a way to test if the relay is gone. by by passing the two red positives?

cheers

1st thought is a very bad connection on the lead.Check that first.if you have power there that is good.A spark will jump a gap(or bad connection)like a sparkplug does

If the tinsel is broken off is that repairable or do I need a new starter?

Is there any other checks I can perform?

Its the wire inside...you can buy rebuild kits from DB electrical.

What happens when you have the wires hooked up and you jump the solenoid...just sparks?

Just about to try that, I'll report back win I jump
It, so much dramas with this ski it's not funni

I think it may be time for a upgrade once she's going again

Ok so i fully charged the batt, put new terminals on all power cables, removed starter for
Inspection was all good, tested it directly with power and worked fine.
After all that fired her up and she started after a couple cranks

Going back to my bogging problem, the issue was water in coil box, this was cleaned and elec contact added.

Now the ski cranks but doesn't fire up, is it possible the coil has shat itself completely now?

Ok so I also tried to test if spark was comming out of the leads, I out a screw driver in the plug and put it close to the sparky to see if a spark come out

On cylinder one no spark sometimes I would get one bit very small
Cylinder two had spark but just a small spark

Tested my brothers xp limited, same method his had a very strong spark you can even feel it through the screw driver

Would this suggest coil is gone? Spoke to machanic he says don't waste your money on a coil pack it's rare they stop working, he seems tO think it's the wiring to the coil pack or a bad ground????

Help would be appreciated

Thanks
