Top speed

I just purchased my first ski and its a 96 gtx and i took it out yesterday for a quick ride and my top speed on gps was 43.8. Is this normal??

what rpms were yuo getting?

Im running at 7000 rpm

You should be getting about 52 - 53 MPH and the RPMs should be at 6750 RPM with a stock engine and stock impeller.

could a new wear ring help solve this problem or am i going to go crazy trying to solve this.

Hmm? Is the pump cavatating? i.e if the thing revs but doesn't seem to go anywhere fast maybe the jet pump could be the reason.

Maybe it because off all the ice the ski has to run through and its slowing it down? I know you just got it but what retard takes a ski out in febuary esp in new york?

Theres no ice idiot its 55 degrees!!!

And there is no cavitation it gets jumps out of the water then flattens out at 44 mph. Its stock engine and impeller

No top end

Make sure the reverse gate is all the way up when not in reverse. If it is strong out of the hole (no cavitation), the pump is in good condition, the engine is turning 7000 RPM and your only going 43 MPH then odds are that the impeller is not stock.
