Took boat out 2nd, white smoke coming out?

Whats up guys,

I took my boat out the second time to Puddingstone Lake, I added 4 gallons of 76, 91 octane gasoline, just in case (I only had a quarter tank left).

And white smoke started coming out of it?, finally it subsided but I smell a very strong odor of some sort of mix (guess its the premix the mechanic put on there).

Anyways I couldnt go that fast on it this time because it was a even day at the lake, however I tried to go faster but the boat wouldnt go? I really didnt try that hard, however, when I took it out of the water and I tried to drain it, there wasnt any water again inside of it??

When I went fast on the the throttle, it didnt go as fast before? also, no water came out? (this is the second time I take it out and no water comes out when I unplug the two holes in the back?)

Even day...what does that have to do with the way the boat runs? Your seadoo should run fine on regular 87 octane fuel. Your just wasting your money on super, unless you have modified your engine and raised the compression ratio. There shouldn't be any water in the hull of the boat after using it. If there is, then you a leak or a water cooling line that is leaking somewhere. If you just had the engine rebuilt, then the mechanic might have added some extra oil to break it in. Next time out, try changing the spark plugs and see if it runs better.

On even days at Puddingstone Lake, boats are only allowed to go up 12 miles per hour.

OK great about the water, then I guess I did have a water leak before, because this time around no water comes out of the 2 plugs in the back by the propeller?? wow, I usually had to unscrew the two plugs and water would come out? I usually screw them back in before I put it in the water?

OK So Im doing good? I guess Im gonna take it out again this weekend to make extra sure everything is fine on it...

What I meant is that it doesnt rev as high as it used to with the older engine? (hopefully you understand what Im talking about)

Hopefully I broke the engine in correctly (yes by the way I did have the engine rebuilt just now..)

I agree with what I think Karl is saying....mechanic prolly has your premix a little heavy and the plugs are fouling from the oil. Through some new plugs in before you go out next. Is your oil injection working properly?

I would cont. to pre mix just in case a quart to 10 gallons. Draw line on tank and watch to see if it goes down.

It will smoke bad at idle until you throttle up.
Also, def new plugs or at least remove them and see if they are black..

Dude you have been here and around enough to know oil injection is the key to these motors life. It is always a topic. I am kinda shocked you had to have a motor replaced and you are asking after the next one is having issues.I suggest you make sure the oil injections is working properly. I am not trying to be a jerk...but you need to make sure it is working before you waste your money spent on that new engine.

Continue to premix until you know it is working good. Make sure it is full of the correct oil, and mark the tank. Put new plugs in and take it out and burn some gas. Like ocod said, 1 quart of oil should go down with 10 gallons of gas.

But remember... your tank is 2 gallons... so a full tank of fuel may only be down 1/4".

Didn't he install a new pump? I thought I saw a new pump in the build pics.

SORRY, and your not being a jerk, im totally a noob about all this stuff, yes he put new lines and the new oil pump, it looks like its working, but you never know, maybe you mean I should look at the motor?

Now I understand when someone comes over and im trying to teach them something on a computer and they pick up the mouse and move it around in the air expecting the cursor to move, man that person is a nooob!!! lol!!!

Once you feel confident oil is running through tank quit pre mixing and always watch level in tank

new pump... new hoses... you are probably fine.

Grab a sharpe marker, and mark the oil tank before your next ride... then check it after.

Yeah you should be fine...prolly just the premix making it run rough. Watch that oil left and have some fun with it...and dont be sorry...you are here and trying to figure it out..thats the best step. too many other people run straight to the dealer and fork out money every time there is an issue.

I pour the quart of oil into the gas tank after filling it up with 10 gallons of gas? And even though my oil pump gear is working it wont mess anything up, just the spark plugs?

I didnt know you could premix all the time? so I should have always done that to be on the safe side?

Why would you want to spend all the extra money on oil??
If the injection sys works that's all you need. just check on it time to time. You have to to add oil as you go you know....
mix ratio is throttle dependent and not fixed at 40:1 leading to smokey idles....

Yeah no need to premix all the time. Most people that do it are either doing it because their system has failed and they arent fixing it or they are just being very cautious.

Once you know it is working fine and that new motor is broke in, just use the tank. It is much cheaper. Just make sure to check it before and after every use to verify it works and keep it filled.
