I've searched around and found some very useful information but what I haven't seen is a 'simplified', "been there, done that" post on how to do it the easiest way. Right now, I am looking at pulling the engine, but if there is a better way, I would really like to know.

Thanks!

You do not need to pull the engine.

Do ONE LINE at a time. I can not tell you how many people have swapped the lines on the RES MAIN OFF valve as well as the lines where they hook up on the sending unit.

If you have not done so, do the carbs at the same time. There are plastic filters on the inside of the carbs that need to be cleaned.

I'm a big guy with big hands. There just seems to be next to no room to work in there. I appreciate the help, thanks. I don't want to take anything off I don't need to, but if, for example, one has to remove the exhaust pipe I'd like to know that. And know what sort of gaskets, seals, etc you'd have to have depending on what you have to take off.

It's not that hard, just tape the new line to the old line and pull the new line through. If it's really tight, pull a string through with the old line and then attach the new line to the pull string.

I've just done a cursory look, so maybe that is part of my trepidation...lol. I take it it's fairly easy then to find the fittings and unhook the old and hook up the new, then?

16' of 5/16 fuel line. 5' of 1/4. New fuel filter.

Remove air box. Remove one line at a time. Attach new line to old by wrapping electric tape around both end to end. Slowly pull new line in using old line to pull.

All primary lines are 5/16 except the return fuel line.
Remove carb bracket using two 6mm Allen wrench and I think an 8 or maybe it's 2 4s and a 6.

Remove carbs by first taking off the choke cable. 2 tiny tiny set screws. . 4 long Allen 8mm. 3 fuel lines attach. Pulse line, in line, return line. And throttle and choke.

You can remove choke, remove carbs, flip upside down in hull the remove throttle and fuel lines.

You'll also have to remove the pulse line off the block.

Now that I write all this it does sound daunting.

I could do it upside down and drunk in my sleep I've done so many lol.

If you were in PA I'd help you out.

^ Thanks, man. Like so many things, the first time is a bit intimidating but once you figure it all out, it isn't all that bad.
I really appreciate the advice. I plan on tackling this issue soon, I've got a lot of business travel coming up in the next couple of weeks but hope to get to it shortly after that.

A little bit of grease on the carb gaskets can help hold them in place on the manifold while putting everything back together. Make sure those carb gaskets are on there centered, it's easy for them to slip off and get askew.

Most important, take your time and be patient, and know by the third time around you'll be able to do it blindfolded.

Borrow your wife's makeup mirror. :)
