Time frame spent on flushing ski?

Realistically, how long should one flush their ski while she sits there before anything may or can happen?

5 min? 8 min? 10, 15 min?

I'm just curious. I generally flush for around 5 min, I feel like this is enough for what ever reason.

How long do people flush their skies for?

The books says to not run more than 5 minutes out of water because the bearings on the impeller are not being cooled by the surrounding water.

So, 3-5 minutes should do it.

Yeah I've generally kept it at 5 min. also, people have told me if flushing for more than 5 min. to spray some water on the carbon ring at the shaft to keep it cool.

I'll stick to 5 min.

Personally, I don't flush my freshwater boat, but flush the XP which I use primarily for jumping waves off the beach.

I will start it on the hose, and when the water comes out the tell tale without having a salty taste, I will let it run another 30 sec or a minute. Still comes out to around 4-5 minutes total running on the hose.
