throttle cable issue

One of the throttle cables for my speedster broke. So I made my own replacement for about 20 bucks using stainless wire rope and solderless throttle cable ends rather than pay $100 plus for a new one. The only difference is the OEM cable has a rigid sleeve towards the end of the barrel connection. The cable I made slides in/out of the cable hosing easy whereas the factory cable gets jammed up due to this sleeve not being flexible. Is there supposed to be like a 45 degree bend in the bracket holding the throttle cable or is it supposed to be closer to a 90 degree bend. I'm guessing an imprper angle is what is causing issues? And does the sleeve on the OEM cable serve any purpose? I may need to make a new cable because the other original cable is starting to fray.throttle.jpg
