Wow. I got choked up reading this thread. I couldn't imagine asking my wife that. The guy screwed up royally and I would have been incredibly angry with him but it seems clear he was racked with guilt. Sounds like a stand up guy.

What part of Ontario? I'm on the other end of Lake Ontario, Rochester, NY.

Small little town just east of London Ontario.

Wow that had to be very scary with your wife. My parents were t-boned in 1980 on the passenger side, my mother did not survive. You are very fortunate to walk away from that with just some bruises.

Oh man, I am sorry to hear that. I actually said to myself, after I started this thread, "I wonder if someone who has been through this, and wasn't so lucky, will see it and it will bring up bad memories." My apologies for that. It's been my sad duty to bear witness to a lot of grief caused by stupid, preventable, accidents like these. I feel utterly and absolutely useless and horrible when I say there is nothing else I can do. My wife, who lost a brother in a similar accident, says she feels the same when she delivers death notifications to families. So, I am sorry, please accept my apologies. On a brighter note, if you decide to buy that dodge you're looking at, I'm going to say that you can feel safe in it. Mine sure did it's job.

No apologies necessary. Just very glad you are both OK. My point was how fortunate you were to be in such a terrible accident and come away with only minor injuries. Although the neck injury can give your wife issues (headaches, neck pain, etc for many years). I've had a few whiplash injuries myself.

I've had a few very close calls with what could have been extremely bad accidents. One time a guy ran a stop sign and when he saw me he just stopped in the middle of the intersection. I'm going like 45 mph and I made eye contact with his little girl about 5 in the passenger seat. I truly thought I was going to t-bone him and kill that little girl. I have no idea how, but I managed to pull off some serious maneuvers and ended up on the other side of his car without touching him.

Another time in CA I thought my wife and I were both going to be seriously injured or killed. I'm going 65 down the highway and a car pull out of a parking lot on the left side of the road between 2 tractor trailers into my lane. I don't think he saw me when he pulled out. When he did see me, rather than turn into my lane he continued straight across the road onto the berm. I had the brakes totally locked up, the whole car was enveloped in smoke from the tires and I was positive I was going to hit him. I swerved into oncoming traffic and missed him by at most 1 inch. BUT now I'm fish tailing all over the left lane (wrong side of the road) and looking head on at another tractor trailer coming at me at about 65. I got the car under control and swerved back onto my side of the road about 20 feet before the truck turned us into a pancake. My wife is screaming the whole time. Got to my brothers house (we were driving over from Las Vegas) about 1/2 later and had a couple shots to calm the nerves.

re:"she delivers death notifications to families". Is your wife a Dr/Nurse?

She's a cop. The driver of the other vehicle wasn't too happy to hear that haha. This didnt happen in her area though. She's a nice cop though, usually cuts people some slack, reduces tickets, etc... But, now she says she won't be letting anyone off with a warning for seat belt infractions.

Thanks. The old sore muscles are getting back to normal. Went and picked out a new to me dodge ram yesterday. Figured since the old version kept us safe, the newer version would do even better.

Back in business!!

Got my new to me Ram today. This thing is ridiculous. Love it. When I left the dealer the EVIC said 260km to empty. By the time I had completed the 110 km drive home it said 282km to empty! A fuel saver light comes on when you drive economically, and when mds comes on I think. It's like a game, trying to keep it lit the whole ride home. Got 11.4L/100 km on the hilly ride home. Best guess is that's about 20 or so mpg. I'll take it, my old ram was 13mpg without towing. The PO but a dynaflow exhaust on it and its a little too throaty for my taste, so once it rots away I'll change to stock. Or I'll pretend I'm 18 again and leave it! Can't wait to pull the boat out again!!

Strangely, that chrome gas cap had been replaced with a black one when I picked it up. Didn't notice till I got home. I prefer the black but find it weird. Maybe it was stolen off the lot, or one of the guys at the dealer liked it. Who knows.

Yea they have come a long way, borrowed a friends 2003 ram with the 4.7, got 13 mpg. My old 2011 f150 would get 20 and had more power.
