So took the doo out to do plug reading. It has been running overall rich when looking at my plugs after each ride. Warmed the engine up and put new set of plugs in after warm. Ran it for 4 min at 3/4 throttle and cut the engine. Was shocked to see zero carbon or color change to insulator. Tried on 1/4 throttle and same thing. On my way back to the dock I was going about 1/2 throttle and the engine stalled. UH-OH... Sinking feeling.... Pulled the plugs and no metal on the electrode and still looked lean. Let it cool down a bit and started up. Rode back to the dock and pulled the plugs again. Now they looked rich. Only thing I can think of is my oil pump is flaking out. Tested compression and 148 on mag and 150 on pto. I am sooo nervous now I am going to go premix. 40:1 correct for a 1995 657X? Also, I am thinking about just putting a shut off valve on the oil line vs pulling the pump and installing a block off kit. Assuming no issues with doing it like this? I have another issue but going to post a seperate thread!!!
