I just bought a tach and hour meter off of Ebay. How many times does a 587 yellow engin fire per revalution? I think bothe plugs fire at the same time so would that mean the plug fires twice per revalution? I have to wrap the tack wire around one of the plug wires so I am thinking if they bothe fire together than it woul each plug would fire twice per revalution.

Good question, and I'm not 100% sure... but knowing how the ignition is set up... yes... it fires both plugs 2x per revolution. (one plug grounds the other)

I'm going to have to check that out.

I thought both plugs fire at once, it doesn't look like there is any kind of apparatus to alternate the spark. So my thought is if they both fire at once then that is twice every revolution. Every time the piston is @ TDC it should fire. So if the tach wire goes on one plug it has to be set to twice per revolution. I think.....lol

What's the bump for??

Hook it up, and let us know what you get.

I know a bunch of engines run that way. (HD did it for a very long time)

I did hook it up. It says about 3 grand so either my idle is really high or my tach setting is doubled. It also has an hour meter on it so that is the most important thing for me. In case I ever want to sell them I can say how many hours are on the new engines.....Not that I am looking to sell them.

3K out of the water is about right.

Rev it up. It will bounce off the rev limiter at 6500 rpm... or so. If it says 13K... then change it to one pulse.
