Hello all,

I am redoing a 94 XP - the PTO spun itself off (owner did not notice this) so we pulled everything off checked things out and reinstalled PTO again w/Loctite 271. In the process of putting things together I was greasing up the fittings -slight problem getting grease gun off the rear zerk...

But when I greased the PTO it got stuck on the Zerk fitting and will not release. Already took fitting off end of gun (hoping that would release pressure) to no avail.

Any other suggestions? really trying not to ruin the zerk fitting/PTO ...

FYI - it is a mini grease gun from green grease ..

searched forums and did not stumble across an answer.

Thanks for the assistance.

my grease gun gets stuck on that fitting too. As Strizzo said, pull on an angle, that usually works for me

Yeah same here, I find tilting it at an angle first makes it just sort of pop off but pulling it straight up never seems to work.

Could take the fititng out and get it out somehow and then replace the fitting since they are easily available as a last resort.

I had already tried taking off at angle even had another guy in the shop try his luck... figured I would try again in morning... Just was wondering if there was some trick/technique I had missed..

Nope your pretty much doing it right, just have to tilt it enough so that one of the teeth loose grip and let the other one move out of the way just enough for the fitting to pop out.

Could try pushing down first and then tilt it to the side while pulling up just to remove the load on the teeth.

Mine gets stuck on the fitting as well. I usually just tilt it and give it a few good pulls to pop it off

I find them hard to get off too sometimes. Tight space with little room to wiggle the grease gun. turn the flywheel a little so its not straight up & see if you can tip the gun towards the rear of the ski at the same time. you might find it hard to get it off with the tip not attached to the gun, I would put it back on. They can hold with a good amount of force sometimes.
