Have a couple problems I am tackling getting the machine ready for the season. My steering column has some play within the steering shaft, for lack of a better word, which makes the steering handles feel loose. I'm not talking about play within the steering back and forth this is more so up and down. Is their a wear item such as a bushing or something in the steering column?

It's a common issue. I don't think the parts are available anymore... so all you can do is get a used steering bushing, and hope it's tighter.

Actually part no. 69 shows as available, you might want to PM minnetonka4me and see if he has a good used #68. I think I remember seeing a fix for this on the forum, don't laugh but I think making a shim out of a beer can was part of the fix. I'll see if I can find it.

I didn't find the thread I was looking for, but I did find this, it might be of help.

Looks like I don't have "permission" to view this. I fixed the issue to my liking however by spacing out the distance between part #10 and the body of the Seadoo. This created a slight downwards pressure and therefore tension in the steering column enough to get rid of the play in the bushing. For now the fix will do, as an added bonus I now have a very slight increase in steering effort which is actually quite nice. Gives the steering a little weight.

Thanks
