symptoms of seadoo problem were bogging at take off and surging at WOT with top speed of only 29-33 mph. Dealer already replaced coil and said that fixed it when it didn't and now he said stator is replaced and that fixed it. Have not been to test it yet but do those sound like symptoms off a melting stator? Also does anybody know the top speed for a 2001 GTX RFI dealer tells us it is 45 MPH but we had it around 60 and the dealer said the speedo was not calibrated right.

Nope.

If the stator was melted... either it wouldn't run at all, or it just wouldn't be charging the battery.

Bogging is almost always a sign of fuel problems. Electrical issues are very distinctive, and show up as a miss or a stutter, or not running at all.

warped crankshaft

Seadoo dealer took engine apart to find why our seadoo runs like crap and found a warped crankshaft. Would a warped crankshaft cause bogging at take off or surging at speeds over 28 mph? It was replaced last year and seadoo shop says it must have been warped when mechanic put it in. Said it was rubbing against the stator and has damaged the stator now. I have to take it to the mechanic who rebuilt the engine so he can look at the crankshaft and stator since it is under warranty.

The cranks in these engines are pressed together, and they can be put together wrong. If it isn't indexed, and aligned properly... I would make the mechanic pay for any incidental damage since he should have checked it before installing it.

Found out the mechanic did not replace the crankshaft last year, my wife handled it and thought he had. My father in law is gonna check the crankshaft to see if it is warped. I read somewhere u can remove sparkplugs and place screwdrivers there and see if they ever move in the same direction. Does that really work or do u have to pull it. Can it be sent of to be repaired if it is warped.
Based on the bogging and surging is it possible the Seadoo mechanic is wrong about the crankshaft and that it has been a fuel issue like I suspected at the start?
Seadoo never shut down or had low voltage so is my stator really bad? I have been so frustrated I am considering getting rid of it when running right or parting it out.
