Starter Rebuild Kit

Anyone got a part number and source for a starter rebuild kit for my Sportster 1800. Anyone that's rebuilt your own how hard is it on a scale of 1-10... Finally found out the starter is locked up internally. Got it free but its locked up again..

I got the parts from Parker Yamaha, the hardest part was getting the starter out, shouldn't be too bad on a boat. Other than removing the starter I would rate it about a 3-4.

You'll need the brushes and possibly the brush holder. Not sure about the starter locking up it's gonna be hard to tell until you remove the starter.

Starter on 94 XP gave up second trip to lake last summer. Hard to get off with engine still in boat. Harder to put back on with engine still in boat. The starter in the ski was not OEM and I was in for a long job with fuel lines, carbs, etc on two skis anyway, so I ordered the $28 Ebay kit. Rebuilt that starter-piece of cake as far as starters go-still doing good. Check it out. If your starter is seized, check armatuer shaft, etc., you may need a new starter. Like Lou said, may be easier to get out and in in your boat.
