start/stop button sticking.

The start/stop button is getting hard to push, but it never sticks keeping the starter running . I was wondering if there was something i could spray in it or do i need to take it apart to clean something in it? The ski is a 2004 GTX if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help.

I ran into a similar prob on an '05 RXT. Solved it with a new start button cover....$7 from the dealer...he even had it in stock, so no waiting.

I believe the MPEM will turn off the starter solenoid once the RPM's reach a certain value, 400 RPM I think it is. Cover on button sounds like something worthy of investigation.

If you pop the cover off you will see how it works. A new cover will normally resolve your issue.

Thanks, i will check into a new cover for it, but do you use a screw driver to pop off the old one? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I'm new to the pwc world.

I have not removed it myself. But I believe a small flat blade screwdriver is all you need to pull the cover.

don't try to pry it out with a screwdriver. remove the single screw on the bottom of the housing and then pull the outer housing case off that has the buttons in it. Push the button inward to remove, take like 1 minute to remove.
