Is there anyone in the Springfield Ohio area that knows anything about a SeaDoo. I live in the area, and am having some troubles with my ski. Not sure what the problem is. When I tried to start it the other day, with plugs in it wouldnt crank over. I pull the plugs out, and it will crankn over, and then I can get it to start. It fires right up. I can fire it up a couple of times in a row and then after I wait for a while it goes back to just the starter turning, and it isnt cranking the engine. I'm not sur eif it's a amperage issue or what, I do know that I'm getting more and more frustrated with this thing, and would like to smash it with a big hammer. Is there anyone in the area here that would be willing to work with me on this. I am wiling to pay, I just don't want to have to travel an hour or two if I don't have to.

Hi Pete,

I know you didn't ask for help, but this doesn't sound all that serious. Check the battery cables for corrosion, clean the connections. It could just be the battery, take it to an auto parts store and have them load test the battery.

As far a finding a local mechanic, you've started at a good place by asking on this forum. You might want to go to the local marina and ask around.

Whats your year GSX?

http://onlyseadoo.com/ has a roaming pwc service.

You may have low compression, check that. Like Lou says: Starter! Battery! = load test

You may need the Raves cleaned. We need more info to help.

I was in Springfield this morning picking up a '96 Challenger. Your problem doesn't sound serious. Make sure your battery is strong enough, have it load tested at the local auto parts store. You can also use a jumper pack to help it, but don't jump from a running car! Probably your battery isn't strong enough but could be your starter needs cleaned/rebuilt and make sure connection and wires are in good shape without corrosion.

Guys, you are giving me hope, and given the day that I've had so far today, thats a huge thing for me. Rave valves.....Check, the last thing I did last year was pull em out and clean em up. Pulled the starter and checked it out, and made sure that all the connections were good and clean. Also pulled out the solenoid and everything else in that little black box, found that the red wire that leads into the top of that was a little (very little) frayed. It had a small hole inh the insulation, and a few of the wires were broke. I replaced the pin connector and put that all back together. Ran a compression test and I am getting 150 from each cylinder so we are good there. I am pretty sure that my battery isn't big enough. I bought one of those motorcycle batteries from the auto part store, it's fully charged, but the suggested battery calls for 190 CCA and this thingng only pushes 90 I think, so there is a big difference, and even with a jump it doesn't really help so I'm not quite certain. But you guys seem pretty hopeful that I can get it so I"m going to try. If there is anyone in the area that wants to burn some time up, I'll buy the beer, I just need another set of eyes on this thing.

Thanks for your posts, it at least seems possible.
