04 RXP I got from a friend today that is not working. Last time he drove it ran fine then just shut off. He parked itand hasnt touched since. Got ittoday and started looking it over. With battery charged it just clicks so I pulled the plugs. Front and middle are perfect. Back one is smashed. Apparently hit by the piston?? any thoughts on the damage? Never messed with one of these, it it likely trashed? Part it out or fix it? Thanks in advance for any help

Part it out at this point unless you're willing to part with a lot of cash and do a lot of work.

The valve is not stuck. It is broke. They were known for that. Serious and costly engine damage has occurred.

Also alot of times the core is too damaged to turn in. you need to ensure you dont have too much damage to the block. take good pics and show them to sbt before buying a new one then swap the motors if good enough. also sbt give a no fault 1 yr warranty. I have gotten a few motors from them and have had to trade one out. they are always great and also they have tech support that will guide you through problems. Good luck and also if you are interested in selling pm me. I would be interested in building the motor myself if the core is in good enough condition.

remove the head and all will be revealed. dropped valves do major damage and can ruin an entire block and head.

can't tell you what to do until you take the head off. hopefully you didn't pay too much for it because it isn't worth much as it sits.

that's good, you're money ahead no matter what you do so nothing to lose and possibly lots of money to be made with a little work. pull the head, it will only take 20 minutes. then post pics, I always enjoy seeing 4tec valve carnage.

I buy broken 4tecs on a regular basis so I'm pretty experienced at maximizing dollar value versus amount of work required. you may get lucky and find very little damage, then for $500 more you can have a $4500 machine.

awesome, thanks. I am going to start on it today and see what happens. this will be a first attempt for me on a PWC. Hope it goes well!

Dropped 2 valves on the rearmost piston. Head is trashed as is the piston. The piston wall has very minimal scarring so im going to get it repaired

Get the valves (all of them!) replaced with upgraded ones! The OEM '04-05 and some '06 valves are hollow and a weak-link in the engines.

Also how many hours are on this PWC? If it's supercharged, have the OEM ceramic slip washers (on the supercharger) been replaced and upgraded to steel washers? If it's near or above 100 hrs of operation then the entire supercharger needs to be rebuilt while you have it down... they have a 100 hr service interval. Be sure to look into it before you put the engine back in the hull!
