04 rxp supercharger rebuild

Bought a pair of sea doos a while back and finally got time to start working on them. One is an 04 rxp and the other an 05 rxt. Both supercharged. Red one was sunk, basically a junk/parts machine. The other one, 04, ran but was not building any boost. Would only go a couple mph. Guy I bought them from said it needed the supercharger rebuild. Watched a bunch of videos on this. Seems not too difficult to handle. Upon removing both superchargers, neither one had the gear on it. Not sure what that might mean if it broke off somehow or wasn’t installed if they had them rebuilt in the past since there’s a lot of hours on them. Any info or insight on what I should do next would be greatly appreciated, other than obviously taking them to the scrap yard at this point. Also I’ve found what feels like 100 different rebuild kits for these superchargers that range from 150-450 dollars. Is there a certain part number I should look for? I’m not sure what horsepower my engine is since it doesn’t say on the title. Thanks
 
With the supercharger out try to see the condition of the gear inside that it meshes with, any debris from either the gear or the old ceramic washers , bearings etc. requires a complete teardown to remove debris and to fix any issues while the engine is apart. Unless you can determine what happened to those gears the engine is a throw away , however I guess you could chance a supercharger rebuild and maybe get lucky.
 
I felt it and it seemed fine. I will try and get a better look tomorrow. Also I’ll send pictures of what the supercharger itself looks like. It’s almost as if someone had rebuilt it and simply didn’t put it on. The washers look to be fine but I’m not sure what worn ones would look like. On the shaft where the gear would be does not appear to have the gear broken off, no signs of anything broken on the shaft which makes me think someone may have forgotten to put that gear on
 
The orange one has been taken out for quite a while. The black one I just took out the other day

Both your boats are 215 horsepower, the sea doo part number for the rebuild kit is 420 881 102. The kits for the 185hp and 215hp are identical except for a 1 tooth different drive gear. I can't imagine any scenario in which the gears would break off while in use! Never seen that happen, much less two of them. Dunno why they would go back into the engine with so many pieces missing... might be a good idea to remove the front engine cover and take a look at the suction oil pump and its strainer; if the old friction washers shattered, pieces of them will wind up there. if you see debris, you'll need to remove and replace both oil pumps, which would be a pretty big undertaking at home in the garage, but doable. good luck sir!
 
You need to pull and completely disassemble the engine.
I bought a 2007 RXP from a salvage yard, brought it home and it fired right up and sounded good on the trailer. Pulled the super charger and the gear was missing. Looked inside and the drive gear was trash. Thought someone put the SC back on without the gear to avoid changing the flywheel gear. Sent the SC off for rebuild and pulled the PTO cover to change flywheel and that's when I found the SC gear. Pulled engine and tore it down in search of remaining parts. In the process I also discovered trashed oil pumps and scarred main bearings. Got lucky as journals were all OK. Everything was full of ceramic sludge, especially inside the balance shaft. I would also recommend replacing the timing chain guides as they contained embedded ceramic bits. It's actually a pretty easy rebuild. Good luck and I hope it all works out.

Mine runs great now, 70 MPH @ 7850 RPM.

P.S. If you decide to scrap the RXP, I would be interested in the front cover if it's good and will fit a 2007.

Gears break all the time during use.

You are going to have to go through the motors as explained above. No reason you can't get both of them running and reliable. Just takes time and money. I've turned a bunch of beat up skis and made them look and run perfectly.
