Son bought a 2001 speedster wont turn over

Hi son bought a 2001 speedster with the 240 v6 Merc.He bought in in January in Montana.It was winterised so he never did hear it run.He put the water hose on as instructed and installed the battery.The radio came on a well as the blower but it did not start or even turn over.No beeps nothing.Do guys have any idea's,it is his first boat so he could use a little help or advise.

Start with making sure the shifter is in neutral and the throttle is at idle. I make that mistake all the time.

BUT... just to make sure:

I know you said it wouldn't turn over... but just to make sure... when the key is turned... is the starter engaging? Or... do you heart a click from the solenoid?

Are you sure, the battery has a good charge? Here again... we see it here are the time. Guys say the battery is good because the radio turns on... but in reality... it flat, or just bad.
