software available for programing a dess ???

The program is like $1000 plus you need the cable. BRP has a monopoly on it.

for $300... you can buy a home BUDS system. (non-OEM) I think they let you program 5 skis (S/N's). It $1400 for the shop version.

$400 for 4 VIN numbers isnt so bad really. Im kinda contemplating getting a couple friends to pitch in $100 each and buy it.

the DESS lanyard has a chip in it. The MPEM has to read the number out of the lanyard. the three wires are... Ground, power, data.

That what are you talking about - is not a "home BUDS system"!!!
Any other system can not be compared with the possibilities of genuine BUDS system.
If anyone has questions about the system BUDS, do not hesitate to ask.
