Seadoo IBR Error

I'm looking for help with my 2019 Seadoo GTX Wakepro. We have it hooked up to a battery tender but the battery totally died over the winter. We removed the old battery and replaced it with a new battery, now we are not getting an IBR error message. We followed the override steps we found online but we still can't get it to move or respond in any way. Our Seadoo repair shops are very busy and I'm being told it will be weeks before they can fix it. We are contemplating spending the money on a BUDS system to see if we can get an accurate diagnosis so that we can possibly repair it ourselves. We saw some posts online indicating a dead battery can cause the sea-doo to "not see" the IBR, requiring it to be "reflashed" with the BUDS2 software. Has anyone had this problem and how did you resolve it? Thanks for your help.

The IBR fault system is very sensitive to system voltage, and Seadoos electronics are very sensitive to outside voltages. I would absolutely make sure your new battery is fully charged and takes a load, and check and charge it out of the ski. Seadoo storage procedures and battery maintenance procedures in your Operators manual states battery comes out of the ski and no tenders, charging or jumping with the battery in the ski. So battery out of the ski means 0 voltage which kind of shoots down the dead battery cause of the problem. The issue if the battery is good is usually a fried IBR module or a fried ECM. The IBR reflash could possibly work also. Most DIYERS use the Candoo Pro diagnostic tool with a BUDS system being more $ and mostly pirated. The Candoo can clear faults but with limited flashing capabilities.

Thanks so much for your advice. It is very helpful. We just need to make a decision whether to take it in for service or continue to try to fix it ourselves. Anyway, you have been most helpful and we are grateful. Have a great day.

Great input, except, not sure you want to be taking that battery in an out of the place it is positioned in. As all who have had the luxury of changing out a GTX or RXP battery, they are hell to install.

I am also having issues with my IBR on a 22 Fish Pro Trophy. I have replaced the motor inside the IBR and still received an error message when turning on the ski. After some research I came across a few individuals who posted videos on YouTube about an IBR issue and after checking the system with a known good IBR module they determined the wiring harness was the issue. They replaced the wiring harness, not difficult but not that cheap depending on your model, and that resolved the issue. I am currently waiting on the new harness to arrive so hopefully that will fix my issue. I will try to keep it posted.

Update to ongoing IBR Module Failure message.

I have replaced the main wiring harness, not an easy replacement lots of stuff to remove and replace. After completing this component replacement I am still having the IBR Module Failure message come up on the screen. I guess I need to replace the IBR Module itself but I would like to borrow a known good IBR Module so I can verify before spending another $700 on a component. If anybody out there has a known good one and is willing to let me borrow it for about 10 minutes I will be happy to pay shipping both ways and do a live facetime call so you can see what is happening.

Thanks, Jeff

You can't just replace the ibr with a known good one and have it work. It has to be married using software for it to communicate with the ECU for it to work.
